After birth as we grow our tensions also grow with us.
Isn’t it?
When we start going to school we have a tension of our homework and exams. After completion of our secondary examination we have a tension of selecting the right stream. Whether I should go with medical or non-medical. After lots of struggles and discussions with family and friends we were able to choose our stream. Whether I should go with medical or non-medical. Most of the people choose non-medical.
Why?
Because everyone wants to become an engineer without thinking what I can do better than this. Now after the senior secondary examination the next tension is from where I should do my B.tech or MCA. People try IITs or NITs or other top colleges. Finalizing a college is also the biggest problem or tension.
People try 2-3 years to get an admission in tier 1 colleges. After lots of struggles we find any good colleges to take admission to. After getting admission in a good college we think now my life is going to settle.
But it’s not true.Actually the real game will start now with lots of problems and tensions. Nobody takes college life seriously. All enjoy college life having a girlfriend or boyfriend, smoking, drinking, parties, drugs addiction with full enjoyment.
Nothing is wrong with enjoyment but things should be in limits. But people cross their limits and hardly give their attention to the study. Now they started having back in each and every semester but they are enjoying their life.
When the degree was going to be completed last semester they started feeling some tension when companies started coming for campus hiring. Now when their few classmates get an offer from the campus hiring they start feeling some pain. Now all the things get reminded of them and many times feel like what if, if I focus on my study earlier. But there is no rewind button in life. We have to move forward by keeping in mind the previous mistakes only.
Now we start focusing on studying or preparing ourselves for interviews. To get a good job we have to be well prepared even though we have a good degree. The degree only helps us to get shortlisted for interviews but not in the selection process. No matter where you pass out. A skill set is highly required to get a good job. Here we made mistakes which I also did.
After completion of our degrees we only think about a job and we are ready to get any kind of job at that time without thinking a right direction or a right skill set. Suppose someone completed his B.Tech from a computer science and he/she is ready to get a job of data entry or just content writing and think that after entering into a company I will learn more things. But this is not true.
If without thinking anyone is joining a job of any type it’s also a big mistake. Because this is the time when your career foundation is building. This is the base of your career. But many people don’t understand and realize after many years why I am not growing. Because of the mistake which we did in the initial days of our career we regret later after 10 or 15 years. When we are married and having kids. We have lots of expenses but we hardly save for the future.
Now we have a good experience and we got married and started our married life with our partner. Now the next level of tension starts. We started thinking about a new car and a new house and we bought a new car and purchased a new house and we started paying EMIs of the car and house. The career foundation is already weak and we started paying EMIs too. Now it’s hard to switch a job because there is a risk in the next organisation by switching the existing job and we try to stay in the same organisation as long as we can.
Again this is a big mistake which I also made. Don’t stick with the same organisation for a long time. By staying in a same organisation for a long time makes us lazy and comfortable as I felt. We stop our learning there. But we don’t think that no organisation is yours. The company can kick you any time. It doesn’t matter what you did for the organisation in past years. The company only sees your current performance and what you are doing. If the company feels that you are not justifying your CTC then they ask you to leave even without a notice period.
Now the next tension in our career is switching a stable job. At this level when we have a good experience we have to face lots of challenges or problems like handling a different kinds of people, facing different kinds of team conflict issues and different team concerns. There are lots of tensions now.
Every step in our career or life we meet different types of problems and tensions. If you ask from me how you define a life.
I would say “Life is a beautiful journey full of tensions till the end of our life. We must enjoy it.”
But how can we enjoy it. There are no other options to enjoy it. But you may ask me, how to enjoy it with lots of tensions, right?
Yes, still we can enjoy it. We can’t get rid of tensions in our life. Then there is only one solution and the solution is to become a good friend of your tensions for forever. If we become good friends of our tensions then we really start our life enjoying.
Conclusion
Life is full of tensions on each and every step. But if we make decisions wisely in our career we can reduce our tensions but we can’t get rid of them completely. To get rid of them completely we have to become a good friends of our tensions and this is the only way to enjoy our life with tension. That’s true we accept it or not.
