Ohh It’s enough for today.
Let’s do it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
I am tired today. I have done lots of tasks today so it’s enough.
I am not ready to make my decision today. I need more time.
It’s not the right time to do this or that.
Have you thought like this in your personal or professional life?
Many times we all think like this in our daily life.
What does that mean exactly?
Are we really not able to do this or that task?
The answer is no. It’s really not and It’s not true at all. Our mind always plays games with us.
This happens when we are not clear with our goals or targets. If we are not clear with our goals or targets then our mind tries to divert us all the time. But if we are clear with our targets then we do not listen our mind and we try to achieve our goals or targets.
We have already prepared our mindset that I will not sit until or unless I won’t achieve this or that. All is a game of our mindset and everything depends on our mind. To achieve anything in our life or career only 20% skills are required, rest 80% is the game of our mindset.
Let me tell you a real incident to make you understand the concept of mindset.
I worked 11 years with startups so I have many real incidents. This is one of the incidents while I was working with startups. Investors visiting and giving demos to the investor is a common thing in startups. As per an earlier announcement we have to be ready with our product in 3 days and the team was working on the product accordingly. Then the CEO made an announcement that tomorrow is an investor visit so be ready with our product and be available in the office on time.
We were not ready with our product yet because the team was working with the mindset that we have to complete this product in the next 3 days. After the announcement we completed it the same day and made it live late at night.
How was that done by the team?
Did we cut the requirements?
No. Not at all.
What I want to explain to you is that all is the game of our mindset nothing else.
Let’s understand this with another example.
When we work in an agile development environment we have to follow the sprints, right?
In the starting of our sprint planning or meeting we pick up tasks from the backlog based on our team members availability and capacity. Suppose based on discussion with the team members and the capacity of a team member we have assigned 5 tasks for the whole week.
But many times I have seen and observed that the team members were able to complete those tasks earlier. Many of them asked to me for another task but few of them were not ready to pick any new tasks.
Why?
Because they made their mindset that I have to do only these 5 tasks only. I will not pick any new tasks. From next week only I will pick new tasks. Otherwise they can easily pick the new tasks from the backlog for the next sprint.
Isn’t it?
Our mind plays games with us every time. Whenever we want to do anything new then our mind is not ready to accept it. Based on the previous incidents from our memory it gives us signal that don’t do this or that.
Why?
Because if we have faced lots of failures in our life then always our mind makes a query in our previous records in our database. It found lots of failures as a result. Based on the result set our mind did not allow us to make a decision. Instead of motivating it demotivates us like
Don’t do this or that.
There is a lot of risk doing this or that.
You never did this or that earlier then how you can succeed in it etc.
And what happens
We give up and do not even try to do that.
Our mind just works like chatGPT for us. Its work only is to give the results based on previous history nothing else.
Wherever we want to do something new our mind stops us always but we have to control our mind. If we are able to control our mind we succeed to achieve our goals or targets otherwise not.
Last 4–5 months have been happening with me as well. Many Times my mind says to me
What are you doing?
How will you survive?
But whenever these thoughts come into my mind I always say shut up. Keep your advice and your suggestions with you. I am not gonna stop it. Because this is the voice of my heart which i love most thats why I am doing this.
If you are working on your passion and you don’t have any other sources of income then these kinds of negative thoughts come and our minds try to divert us. These are the situations where we have to stay focused, motivated and committed toward our inner calling.
Conclusion
All it means is that we have to listen to our inner voice whenever we want to do anything new in our life. Our mind tries to stop us every time but we have to stay focused, motivated, dedicated and committed towards our inner calling or passion. This is the concept of mindset building. To start with anything we just need 20% of the skill set rest 80% is the game of our mindset. Our minds always try to divert us but don’t listen to your mind and keep doing whatever you are doing. Definitely you will succeed.
